This policy explains how Website Hosts UK services may and may not be used.

Last updated: 16 May 2026

Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy (β€œAUP”) governs the use of services provided by Website Hosts UK. It is designed to protect the stability, security and integrity of our infrastructure, customers, network and services.

By using Website Hosts UK services, customers agree to use those services responsibly, lawfully and in a way that does not harm other users, systems, networks or third parties.

Scope

This policy applies to all customers, users and services provided by Website Hosts UK, including web hosting, WordPress hosting, business hosting, reseller hosting, email hosting, VPS hosting, VDS hosting, domain-related services, website tools and any associated systems.

Customers are responsible for all activity carried out through their account, services, websites, applications, scripts, email accounts and server environments.

Lawful Use

All Website Hosts UK services must be used in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Customers are solely responsible for ensuring that their websites, files, applications, communications and hosted content comply with legal requirements.

Services must not be used to publish, store, transmit, distribute or link to unlawful, harmful, abusive or rights-infringing content.

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are not permitted on Website Hosts UK services:

  • Any unlawful, illegal, abusive or harmful activity
  • Hosting, distributing or linking to copyrighted material without permission
  • Malware, viruses, ransomware, spyware, botnets or harmful code
  • Phishing, fraud, impersonation or deceptive practices
  • Unauthorised access attempts, hacking, exploitation or brute force attacks
  • Spam, unsolicited bulk email or abusive messaging
  • Hosting scam pages, fake login pages or credential harvesting content
  • Operating open proxies, open mail relays or abuse-enabling systems
  • Running IRC servers, malicious bots or abuse-oriented automation
  • Activities that disrupt, overload or interfere with networks, servers or other users
  • Using services to scan, attack or test third-party systems without authorisation

Resource Usage

Services are subject to fair usage expectations. Customers must not consume excessive CPU, memory, storage, bandwidth, disk I/O, database or network resources in a way that negatively affects system performance, service stability or other users.

Where usage exceeds acceptable thresholds, Website Hosts UK may contact the customer, apply temporary restrictions, request changes, recommend an upgrade, move the service to a more suitable plan, suspend the affected service or take other action where necessary.

Shared hosting services must not be used as file storage, backup storage, media archive storage, bulk download mirrors or high-resource application hosting unless explicitly permitted by the service terms.

Network Security

Customers must not engage in any activity that compromises the security, stability or availability of Website Hosts UK infrastructure, networks, systems or other users’ services.

Prohibited network activity includes denial-of-service attacks, port scanning, vulnerability scanning without permission, packet spoofing, unauthorised interception, network abuse or attempts to bypass service restrictions.

Email & Messaging

Email services must be used responsibly and must not be used for spam, phishing, unsolicited bulk email, abusive communications or misleading campaigns.

Customers are responsible for securing email accounts, scripts and forms used to send messages. Compromised email accounts, insecure contact forms or scripts sending abusive mail may be restricted, suspended or disabled to protect the network and sender reputation.

VPS, VDS & Server Use

Customers using VPS, VDS or other root-access services are responsible for securing, maintaining and monitoring their server environment unless a managed service has been specifically agreed.

VPS and VDS services must not be used for abusive automation, malware distribution, DDoS activity, spam operations, unauthorised scanning, proxy abuse, phishing, illegal content or activities that damage the reputation or stability of the network.

If a VPS, VDS or server service is compromised or causing abuse, Website Hosts UK may restrict network access, suspend the service or take emergency action to protect infrastructure and other users.

Monitoring & Enforcement

Website Hosts UK does not routinely inspect customer content; however, we reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of this policy, abuse reports, security incidents, excessive resource usage or activity that may affect service stability.

Enforcement actions may include warnings, requests for corrective action, temporary restrictions, service limitations, suspension, termination or removal of harmful content where appropriate.

In cases where activity poses an immediate risk to infrastructure, network integrity, service availability or other users, Website Hosts UK may suspend or restrict services without prior notice. Where appropriate, notification will be provided after action has been taken.

Reports of suspected abuse, unlawful content, phishing, malware, spam or policy violations may be submitted to:
