Core Service Terms

The main rules and responsibilities that apply when using Website Hosts UK services.

1. Lawful Use

Services must only be used for lawful purposes. You must not use our services to host, store, transmit, promote or distribute unlawful content or activity.

Content or activity that violates applicable UK law, regulation, third-party rights or our policies is strictly prohibited.

2. Acceptable Use

All services are subject to our Acceptable Use Policy. Customers must not engage in activity that compromises service stability, security, integrity or availability.

We may restrict, suspend or terminate services where we reasonably believe usage breaches our policies or puts our platform, network, customers or reputation at risk.

3. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for keeping account credentials, passwords, billing access, control panel access and email accounts secure.

You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account, whether authorised by you or caused by compromised login details.

4. Prohibited Content and Activity

The following content and activities are strictly prohibited on Website Hosts UK services:

  • Pirated software, warez or unauthorised copyrighted material
  • Malware, viruses, botnets or malicious scripts
  • Phishing, fraud or deceptive practices
  • Illegal marketplaces or unlawful sales activity
  • Hacking tools or exploit archives used for abuse
  • Spam, bulk unsolicited messaging or mail abuse
  • DDoS activity or network disruption
  • Credential theft or account compromise activity
  • Content that is unlawful, harmful or abusive
  • Any activity that breaches our Acceptable Use Policy

Immediate Action May Be Taken

Serious abuse, illegal content, security threats, spam, phishing, malware or activity that risks other customers may result in immediate suspension or termination without prior notice.

5. Resource Usage

Hosting services are provided with resource limits and may operate on shared, virtualised or managed infrastructure depending on the service purchased.

Excessive consumption of CPU, memory, I/O, storage, email, database activity, bandwidth or other resources may affect other customers and may result in limits, restrictions, suspension or a request to upgrade.

Resource usage is also subject to our Fair Usage Policy and the specifications of the service plan purchased.

6. Network and Server Abuse

Attempts to disrupt, damage, overload, scan, exploit, attack or interfere with our infrastructure, services, networks, systems or other customers are strictly prohibited.

We may take immediate action to protect our platform, including filtering traffic, disabling services, suspending accounts or terminating services where required.

Billing, Payments and Service Fees

Services are billed in advance and must be paid by the invoice due date.

7. Billing and Payments

Services are billed in advance on the billing cycle selected or assigned to the service. Payment must be made by the due date shown on the invoice.

Failure to pay may result in service suspension, restriction, late action, cancellation or termination.

8. Failed Payments

You are responsible for ensuring payment details are valid and that sufficient funds are available.

If a payment fails, we may notify you and may suspend or restrict services if the balance remains unpaid.

9. Service Fees

Some services may include setup fees, licence fees, usage charges, domain charges, renewal fees or recurring service charges.

Cancellation does not remove responsibility for outstanding balances incurred before cancellation or termination.

10. Refunds

Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy. Selected shared hosting services may be eligible for refund consideration within the stated timeframe where the policy conditions are met.

VPS, VDS, server and root-access services are non-refundable once ordered, provisioned or activated. Domain registrations, renewals and transfers are also normally non-refundable once submitted or completed.

Refunds are not available for accounts suspended or terminated due to abuse, fraud, chargebacks, non-payment or policy violations unless we expressly agree otherwise.

11. Cancellations

You may request cancellation of services through the customer portal or by contacting support where appropriate. Cancellation stops future billing where applicable, but does not automatically entitle you to a refund.

You are responsible for backing up any data before cancellation. Once a service is cancelled or terminated, associated data may be removed and may not be recoverable.

12. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate services where:

  • Invoices remain unpaid
  • Services are used unlawfully or abusively
  • Account activity breaches these Terms or related policies
  • Usage creates security, stability, network or reputational risk
  • False, misleading or incomplete account information is provided
  • Chargebacks, payment disputes or fraud concerns arise

Accounts that remain unpaid for an extended period may be permanently terminated and associated data may be deleted.

Data After Suspension

Suspended or terminated services may become inaccessible. Customers should maintain independent backups and should not rely on suspended services as a storage or backup location.

13. Uptime and Service Availability

We aim to maintain high availability across our services and may provide uptime commitments as part of our Service Level Agreement.

Availability may be affected by scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, third-party outages, network issues, cyber attacks, customer misconfiguration, excessive resource usage or factors beyond our reasonable control.

Service credits, where applicable, are governed by the Service Level Agreement and are not automatic.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Website Hosts UK shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses.

This includes, but is not limited to, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of revenue, loss of data, business interruption, reputational damage or losses arising from downtime, suspension, termination or customer configuration issues.

15. Customer Data and Backups

You are responsible for the content, files, databases, emails, applications and data hosted under your account.

While some services may include backup options, customers should maintain their own independent backups. Backup availability is not guaranteed unless expressly included within a specific managed service agreement.

Website Hosts UK is not responsible for data loss caused by customer action, software issues, compromised credentials, application faults, cancellation, non-payment or policy breaches.

16. Security Responsibility

Customers are responsible for keeping websites, plugins, themes, applications, scripts, passwords and user accounts secure and up to date.

We may take protective action where a website or account is compromised, sending spam, hosting malware or placing other customers or services at risk.

17. Third-Party Services

Some services may depend on third-party providers such as registries, registrars, payment processors, infrastructure providers, software vendors or external APIs. We are not responsible for failures outside our reasonable control.

18. Changes to Services

We may modify, replace, update or discontinue services, features, packages, pricing or technical specifications where required for business, security, operational or supplier reasons.

19. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of services after changes are published means you accept the updated Terms.
